Mobility

Globally, we are seeing a growth in demand for mobility as individuals increasingly have the means, the need and the desire to travel. And while access to mobility is crucial for equality and for allowing all individuals to exploit the socio-economic benefits associated, transport is also a significant contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions (20%), realised from the burning of fossil fuels for personal and freight transport. In an urbanising world, city-wide transport is also a main cause of urban air pollution, noise pollution and a burdening use of public space.

The mobility sector is facing huge challenges in terms of developing in an equitable and green manner. Mobility and transport systems needs to be overhauled with a re-calibration of how, why and how often we travel.
